JACK VENTIMILIA

the Apologetics
Written by Eka Savajol, Performed at The Tank

Directing Eka Savajol’s the Apologetics, a deftly written, liminal, socratic dialogue on Trans life in America (ala apologetics) was stylistically challenging, but even more rewarding. I staged the play minimally to emphasize the first-
person control of the narrative, its placelessness and dreaminess, the and isolating shame of the three central characters.

"Jack is thoughtful, meticulous, and eager to collaborate. As an actor/writer, I had a lot of nerves about my play. Jack’s thorough analysis, sharp eye for visuals, meticulous preparation, and strong dramaturgical sense made it possible for me to trust both him and the play itself. Working with him always reveals so much to me about the play I’ve written and about drama more wholly."
